Madisonville Arts/Crafts Fair

Saturday I journeyed to my hometown to an arts/crafts fair held by the library.  It was a gorgeous day outside so it was sort of hard to stay inside but there was a pretty decent crowd for Madisonville mall really.  Lots of familiar faces stopped by and bought a little something either for themselves or an early Christmas gift for a loved one.  My sister was my sidekick for the day.  We ended up having a really good time sitting at my little table.  We had a chance to catch up and we met two cute little girls that reminded us of us when we were their age :) I ended making them a crafting bag with scrap fabric, yarn, buttons and other goodies so they can start crafting! I really hope they do! Here are some pics from the day, thanks Leah for snapping the one of Tara and I together!

Goofing Off

It's what Tara (my sis) and I do best..goof off.  We usually call our goofing off a seester's adventure, welp we had a fun little seester's adventure on Monday.  I headed to Madisonville on Monday with a list of things to do. While I was pretty productive over the course of the day I managed to squeeze some goofing off time in with Tara. My Jeep needed a few things done to it at the dealership so she picked me up and entertained me in the meantime.  We had lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant and than got a mini pumpkin pie blizzard from DQ, which by the way are flippin amazing! We went to the park to eat our little treat and it turned into a good ole fashion senior pictures photo shoot.  You know..the terrible posses, cheezy faces and awkward angles.  For some reason we always end up recreating senior pictures and family portraits..you should try it..I promise you will laugh really hard at yourself :) Here ae some pics from our day at the park.hehe :)

I'm sure you can see how this progressed into what it is:)  Such a pretty day with one of my favorite people. One of the productive things I did do was get together with my pretty friend Leah of  Sookie Says to create this lovely paper feather DIY for one of our favorite blogs Violet Bella!
Happy Goofing!

Thifty Tid Bits

I have been thrifting since I was pretty young.  I've always enjoyed the thought of a recycled piece of clothing or trinket.  I often wonder who owned it before me and how it ended up in my hands and who will own it next when I pass it on.  My grandmother volunteered at St. Vincent Depal, a local thrift store in my home town for years.  I got to volunteer with her a couple of times and watch all of the donations and treasures come through the door.  When I am retired one day I'm sure I will end up completing the circle and volunteer in a thrift store once again.  Today was a very good thrifting day, lots of good finds! There are some items that seem to AWAYS be in thrift stores!
So here it is..The 5 things you should never buy new..

1. Baskets
2. Children's Clothing
3. Fake flowers
4. Men's Ties
5. Kiddy Books

Happy Thrifting!

Meet Spaghetti Squash

Ever had spaghetti squash before? If not you should try it! Looks like pasta with the calories and freshness of a veggie! Only 41 calories per cup! Begin with a piece of gorgeous produce and end with a really full belly. All you have to do is preheat the oven to 375. Cut spaghetti squash in half and deseed.  Put 1/2 in of water in the bottom of a 10x13 baking pan, place the squash with shell up and bake for 30-40 min or until soft.  Remove from oven and scrape out insides and cover with sauce.  You can find spaghetti squash everywhere from Wal-mart to most pumpkin patches.

Happy Cooking!

DIY Fabric Mouse for Kitty

I was at Pet Smart yesterday with my brother and I ended up buying Burli a new mouse toy to play with.  I got it home and he loved it :)  Johnny said.."You could make that" and I thought..hmm I bet I could, so I did. Now you can too!  If you have a furry little friend that deserves a cute little mouse toy follow the steps below for kitty happiness.
You will need: scrap fabric, scissors, sewing machine (or needle and thread), pins, scrap felt, short piece of yarn, thick embroidery thread, stuffing
Step 1: Fold fabric in half with wrong side out and cut the shape of mouse you want out, cut enough extra for the seam and pin pieces together
Step 2: Sew around edges leaving the flat end open

Step 3: Turn fabric right side out

Step 4: Cut out 2 small circles for eyes and 2 medium sized half circles for ears from felt. Snip a piece of yarn for a tail

Step 5: Stitch the eyes and ears on, you can use hot glue if you want to for this step

-Tip if you are stitching, roll the body up close to the head to make it easier on yourself

Step 6: Cut 2 2in pieces of thick embroidery thread for the whiskers.  Take one piece of tread and knot both ends together creating a circle
Step 7:Go from inside out with the stitch once and snip the loop to create whiskers, repeat on other side

Step 8: Stuff him!

Step 9: Lay your tail inside body and stitch up his booty

Step 10: Let kitty play!

I woke Burli up to give him his toy and he gave me the look..what do you want..so I moved his new friend where he could see him and he understood..

Happy Kitty!
