Polka Dot Shower Rings in 15 Minutes

Johnny and I agreed it was time for a little bathroom makeover.  So in the process I got a chance to be just a tad bit crafty.  I took our old shower rings and made them just a little more interesting than just plan ol clear plastic.  Grab a paint pen and decorate away..

I used a hanger to let the rings dry for about 10 minutes

Tada..new and improved shower curtain rings:)

Nice Little Saturday

This past Saturday was basically perfect.  My day started off with a 5k run benefiting breast cancer research, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.  I will have to say it's probably one of my favorite races to run because you get to see so many strong survivors who have fought for their lives, smiling at the support around them.  After the race Johnny and I headed to my parents house for a little bonfire, fall food and perfect weather.  Dad and I drove his classic car to a little car show they were having in downtown Hanson.  I find car shows to be very intriguing, to think about every car on the road looking like that!  My grandparents used to take us when we were kids so it reminds of that too:) Anywho.  After enjoying a blast from the past we grilled out and enjoyed the fire and fall weather!  I hope you are enjoying this weather as much as I am!

for some reason this always happens when we're together:)

Happy Day!

Let's Make a Chalkboard

Chalkboard paint has become pretty popular over the past year. I have been wanting to use mine since I got it at the beginning of the summer and I finally decided to break the seal!  I don't know about you but at my place we have an ever evolving grocery list but I never can find a pen or paper close so I store it in my memory..which retains about 75% of that list, if I'm lucky:)  I decided I needed something to write my grocery list on.  Que the chalkboard paint!  I have a very easy project for you today and all you need is..
old framed picture (I got one from Goodwill fro $2)
chalkboard paint
paint for fame
paint brush
chalk
optional: piece of yarn and flat thumb tack
Just paint the glass with chalkboard paint ad paint the frame your color of choice

If you want to always have a piece of chalk available cut a small piece of yarn and tack it to the top of the frame..

Now you can write your grocery list, recipe ideas or just sweet notes to your special someone:)

Happy Creating!

So Long Summer

September is here and summer is dwindling.  So long to swimming, shorts, sun dresses, ice cream (well maybe not ice cream:), and so many other summertime activities.  With fall comes bonfires, sweatshirts, changing leaves, football and fall festivals.  Fall is my favorite season of the year so I'm a tad bit excited about it! I thought I would take a few minutes to sum up my summer....

Canvas Quote Craft Project

Johnny and I have officially signed our lease for another year which made me want to show our little place some love.  Over the past three years we have moved three times! So I'm pretty excited that we are sticking around here:)  I saw a super easy project on one of my favorite blogs that I wanted to try.  See the inspiration for my project here.  Lets get started!
You will need:
Canvas: choose any size
Paint and paint brushes
Vinyl letters (I found mine at Lowe's)

Pick your colors and decorate your canvas with stripes, zigzag, swirls or whatever your heart desires!  No need to be perfect because you will be painting over it:)
I went with polka dots..well because I love polka dots:)

After you have covered your canvas, let it dry and spell out you quote

Now paint the entire canvas a slightly darker color than your background colors, I wanted to be able to see the polka dots so I used red but feel free to use black or brown for better coverage

Peel your letters off and hang it up to enjoy!

Happy Crafting!
