Tara Tuesday: Florence+the Machine

You ever get tired of your iPod?  You know that point where you keep hitting the “skip” button and then you look down and realize you’ve skipped like 200 songs?  That tends to happen to me every once in a while.  However, Florence + the Machine has been a bit of a remedy for that.  I never get tired of their amazing music.  They’re not necessarily a new artist or anything, but they are completely underrated!!  The album “Lungs” started my love affair with them, and their most recent album “Ceremonials” simply continued it.  Florence has such a great voice and a unique personal style.  It’s like a breath of fresh air. Haha.

There are many more, but those are just my personal favorites!  Also, just for fun here is a cover they did of the Drake song “Take Care.” It’s actually quite good :)  Hope this inspired you to do a quick, little iPod makeover!!

Tara Tuesday: DIY: Hair Band

Hello there “Cup of T” readers!! It’s me again, here with a cute hair DIY :)  Today we are going to do a neat little hair band, with a twist... Literally. Haha.

1.       Start out with a section of hair right above your ear.

2.       Split the section into two equal parts and begin to twist your hair. (However, as you twist, pull your hair up with it, so it will lay better on your head.)

3.       Continue to twist your hair, as you pull it across the top of your head.

4.       Now, simply pin down the end of the twist, and enjoy your cute and easy hair style!!!

Tara Tuesday: Taking Chances with Color..

Well, the New Year is almost here and if you’re anything like me, you’re ready for a new you!! Some advice to my fellow “new beginners” would simply be… Take a chance :)  When I get bored of looking at my same ole’ hair in the mirror, I can’t help but feel the urge to change things up. Over the years my hair has been just about every color, brown, blonde, black, and even maroon… Yes, maroon. Haha. You would be surprised what a little change in color can do for your everyday outlook on life. Changing up your look will help keep you from slipping into a rut, and really just break the monotony from day to day. And if you’re worried you won’t like the new color, just remember, nothing is truly permanent. It can always be fixed!! Here’s a little taste of the range of colors my mop has endured throughout the years…

See, I told you I had maroon hair!!

dark brown.

So, get a little bold and take a risk with your color! You won’t regret it!

Tara Tuesday: Soundtrack to my Life

Hello my friends this is the first installation of Tara Tuesday! This week she is here to talk about some sweet tunes for your ears! Take it away Tara...

If there is one thing you should know about me, it’s that I love music!! I basically have a soundtrack to my life. Haha. One of my musical obsessions happens to be Nat King Cole… He is simply timeless. If I could only pick one song to tell you to listen to, it would be “Nature Boy.” Such an amazing song!! Listen here! However, ‘tis the season and Nat has one of the most classic Christmas albums of all time. His version of “O Holy Night” is likely to make your little heart melt :) And if you’re looking for THE classic song of the season, listen to his version of “The Christmas Song,” what else?! Listen here, you know you want to! He really does just make me smile :)  My favorite holiday memories always have Nat King Cole playing in the background. If you want some warm fuzzy memories of your own, you should add him to Christmas list ;)

If you know me personally than you probably already know I have an amazing sister, Tara.  If you read my blog on a regular basis than you already know I have a sister but maybe you don't know quite how great she is.  I have asked her to join my blog and share some of her talents and interests with you!  I am a blog lover of almost all types but my favorite blogs are the ones that touch on a wide variety of topics from cooking, fashion, and photography to music and more! Hello Tara! Can you tell us a little about yourself?

Well, I’m 24 and I still like to watch cartoons and doodle on any piece of paper I get my hands on. A few of my favorite things include finding new music, painting, reading, and photography! I also happen to thrive on spending time with my family… Do you know them? They happen to be awesome ;) Hehe.

What are you going to be sharing with us here on A cup of T?

I am going to be sharing hair styling DIYs, music “must haves”, great reads, photography tips (for the inner professional photographer in all of us), and perhaps a little bit of my everyday quirkiness. 

What inspires you?

Everything!! But, Pinterest is a big source of inspiration for me these days. I am borderline obsessed with it, actually. It’s a great way to pick other peoples’ brains and generate new ideas of your own.

Ummm… I really just want to say that I can’t wait to start blogging with you!!
