Counting Down

The count down is on for the new year! 2011 has been an eventful year for me so I am really excited to see what 2012 has in store;) I feel like I am in a great place to end the year and hope it continues on into the new year! In celebration of New Years Eve my sissy and I decided to make some festive party hats! You can to! Just grab some paper, tape, markers and anything else you want to spice up your hat!
Happy New Years Eve my sweet friends!

Gluhwein

I mentioned gluhwein in my previous post and you may or may not have known what I was talking about. Since New Years Eve is tomorrow I thought this post would be quite appropriate.  It is a delicious Bavarian/Austrian Christmas drink served at Christmas Markets in Bavaria & Austria. My honey is sort of a fanatic about this area of the world and when he visited there years ago he tasted gluhwein and loved it!  He decided to make some for my family Christmas last year to start a new tradition and it was a BIG hit!  So on Christmas Eve this year he made his second batch of tasty gluhwein.  Here is the recipe Johnny uses..
Here he is making it..

time to enjoy..

You should make a batch and taste the goodness!
Earlier this month Johnny an I bought some pre made gluhwein just to try it out and it wasn't half bad, we just warmed it slightly and indulged!

Happy Drinking!

Bits of Christmas

Hopefully you enjoyed your Christmas weekend :) Once again I ate way too many sweets and drank a tad too much gluhwein, wooo. Good think I got p90x2 for Christmas to start the new year off right! My friends and family did a great job gifting lovely little things to me this year, they hit pretty much every aspect of my life from baking, working out to sewing.  I think I'm pretty partial to one gift in particular..my new dress form!! I can't wait to break it in. Thanks Santa! I managed to snap a few pics during the celebrating..so here is Christmas Instagram style :)

picking fresh holly for the centerpiece :)

Grandma and Grandpa arrived! My Grandparents really are the cutest! Grandpa normally doesn't use a walker, in fact they still go to the gym 3 times a week, but he broke his femur about 2 months ago! He is 88 and my inspiration to the power of the mind and willpower! He pretty much jumped in the house and even managed to do a little jig for his Christmas entry (family members reading you know what I mean).  I'm so happy he is getting stronger each day! I mean he has gardening to do this spring:) That's what he told me.

We (Johnny, Tara, Nathan & I) made this Navy fleece blanket for my grandpa, he loved it! We also made an Army fleece for my grandpa Dollahan!

eeeeekkk!
One last time I hope you had a Merry Christmas!
Happy Holidays!

Tara Tuesday: Taking Chances with Color..

Well, the New Year is almost here and if you’re anything like me, you’re ready for a new you!! Some advice to my fellow “new beginners” would simply be… Take a chance :)  When I get bored of looking at my same ole’ hair in the mirror, I can’t help but feel the urge to change things up. Over the years my hair has been just about every color, brown, blonde, black, and even maroon… Yes, maroon. Haha. You would be surprised what a little change in color can do for your everyday outlook on life. Changing up your look will help keep you from slipping into a rut, and really just break the monotony from day to day. And if you’re worried you won’t like the new color, just remember, nothing is truly permanent. It can always be fixed!! Here’s a little taste of the range of colors my mop has endured throughout the years…

brown.

black.

maroon.
See, I told you I had maroon hair!!
light brown/dark blonde.

brownish red.

dark brown.

So, get a little bold and take a risk with your color! You won’t regret it!

See you guys later,
Tara.
