Fabric Wrapped Wreath

On Monday Leah, owner of Sookie Says, and I got together and had a mini photo shoot for both our lines and had a good ole craft day :) The weather was perfect and our creative juices were movin!  Leah has the best area ever to sit and do crafts in which I am completely jealous of.  Her sweet little back porch is vintaged out and pretty dang peaceful.  Leah had posted a DIY  (http://sookiesaysblog.blogspot.com/2011/08/diy-pretty-retro-wreath.html)  on her blog and I just loved it so I did my own variation of her DIY: A fabric wrapped wreath!
You will need a wreath, pins, fabric of choice and whatever you want to add to your purty wreath!

Cut long strips of fabric, wrap around wreath and secure with pins!
Add any extra flare you want and there you have it!  A fabric wrapped wreath!

Happy Crafting!

Germanfest 2011

I've been so blessed lately with encouraging words and positive thoughts from so many people since my last post.  Thanks yall.
When we thought we would be in Reno, NV by now Johnny and I were sad we would miss Germanfest this year, little did we know we would end up going after all.  Germanfest is held in Vincennes, IN, which is the town my parents are from.  It is held every August to celebrate their German/ American heritage.  They have live music, German food, beer and more beer!  We went last year for the first time and had a blast so we had high expectations for this year.  Welp it was even more fun this year!  It's really the first thing Johnny and I have done to get our minds off of everything for the weekend.  We took a mini road trip to Jasper, IN to eat at an authentic German restaurant that is amazing!  I really felt like I was in Germany for a moment.  We met some great people this year, old and young, and hope to see them again next year. This is one tradition I plan on continuing for years to come!  Of course I have pictures to share with you :)
Dad and Tara getting pumped for round 1!  Love the enthusiasm!
My little German boy..haha. Johnny was pretty much the most popular person there, I mean maybe he stood out just a tad :)
This is Ralph, who runs the entire festival and he just loved Johnny..can't really imagine why, huh?
 Saturday Night..Round 2!
This is the kind of picture you end up with when you ask someone to take a picture at the end of the second night at Germanfest...too funny.

Happy Weekend!

Bump in the Road...

I've never hated the saying "when life hands you lemons, make lemonade" so much in my entire life.  Thank you to my family and close friends who have said these very words to me this past week.
OK followers and lovely people who stop by my little blog from time to time here's the deal......
As you know if you read my previous blog post (which I have since deleted because I couldn't stand having it up anymore) about Reno, Johnny and I had a series of events fall into place perfectly to lead us to the decision to pack up our apartment, quit my job and move 2,000 miles away to start a new life.  Welp it aint happening, just yet.  I guess I should go ahead and apologize that I am a tad bit on the negative side today, but I am much better today than yesterday or the day before. So please just bare with me, my old self will be back :)  Any who. After looking over Johnny's syllabus for school it became pretty apparent that he will only be able to work part time, One class alone had 22 books!  This was no big deal because I had gotten a travel position in the NICU which pays rather great, pays for our travel to get to Reno and a furnished apartment on them.  Sounds so good huh?? Well the hospital canceled my job, which in turn cancels our place to live and all the extra money we would have coming in.  O yeah and this is the first time this has ever happened in the history of Medical Staffing Solutions.  Go figure.  If you know me, you know I have some crazy bad luck.  MSS has been super great trying to fix this mess so we will see what happens in the end.
Soooo..Johnny and I are stuck in, what I like to call, LIMBO. Do we go to Reno anyway for Johnny's work and hope that the hospital still needs a NICU nurse, do we stay in Madisonville (where I would have to beg for my job back), should I try to get another travel position and travel while he is in grad school? ???  Is this some sort of sign we are missing? Well I wish we knew the reasoning behind all this disappointment and confusion.  I know it will all work out in the end but this little bumpy journey is wearing me out!
ahh.. and there you have it. I like to call this entire experience... from up to down in 3.7 seconds.  what a bump.
Happy Thoughts!
(hey I'm trying at least)

Recent Customs

Lately I have had the privilege to make some really cute custom pieces for some really cute customers :) Custom orders are definitely among my favorite pieces to make.  I just love creating for others and if I get it right than my mission is accomplished.  It really does make me happy when someone contacts me about a piece of my art that demonstrates love..ahh sweet love.  Here are a few of my recent customs doing just that...

I am in love with the way these framed pieces turned out, the lovely girl I made them for is planning on putting them on their nightstands, what a cute idea? I think I need to make me a set next!

I encourage you to tell someone you love "I love you" today :) you may just make them smile.
Happy Loving!

What's so Wise About Wisdom Teeth Anyway?

I finally got my wisdom teeth cut out, 10 years after I should have.  Last Thursday was the big day. The whole experience is pretty much a blur except for when I tripped up the steps to the apartment!  I woke up on the coach thinking..why in the world do people even have wisdom teeth?? I still don't really know, but I do know I hate them.  Today is the first day I've been able to eat somewhat normal food.  I've been living off of mashed potatoes, mac-n-cheese and ice cream, so nutritious I know :) Johnny made homemade pizza today and he packed it full of veggies so I could at least get some sort of nutrition. It was a super slow process but I got it down! Between puking my guts up from pain pills and the throbbing pain from the newly made holes in my head the entire experience SUCKED.  Somehow the people I love so very much pulled through and helped me cope, Thanks yall!!  O yeah I totally morphed into a chipmunk, check it out!

hahahaha..tad bit embarrassing but I could not resist.

Special thanks to mom for the phenergan, Tara for the flowers and Johnny the homemade mashed potatoes made my day.
Happy Brushing!

Like Old Times

My mom's car has been acting a little funny lately and finally tuckered out on her Wednesday.  In return she had to get a rental car to drive for the week.  She got a mini van! This ended up working out so perfect.  Mom, dad, Tara and I all packed into the van and headed to Evansville to spend Wednesday evening with Nathan.  The reason I was so excited about the van is because it's what we grew up with and it made it feel like old times:)  It is kinda a rare situation to have all five of us together.  So I hate to say it but I'm glad mom's car pooped out.  We went to The Fresh Market, visited Nathan's kitty and had dinner at Red Robin, which was my last meal before I got my wisdom teeth cut out!  That post will be coming soon :) Any who.. it was a great night that stemmed from something bad.  I had a lot of fun with you family!! Of course I snapped some pics of the evening..

I would strongly suggest Red Robin to anyone!  So yummy from their endless fries to their shrimp and berry lemonade it was all delicious! Red Robin..Yummmm.
You're never too old to load up with your parents in a van for a fun evening!!
Happy Day!
