Pumpkin Patch

Yesterday was the loveliest fall day yet.  I woke up early and went for a run, the leaves were falling, people are all decorated for Halloween and the temperature was 55 (50-60 degree weather is my personal favorite temp to run in so in other words PERFECT).  I came home to Johnny building a fire..ahh so cozy.  Luckily he had a supervisor :))

Baked some pumpkin bread and than headed to the pumpkin patch! This pumpkin patch had it all! Huge selection of pumpkins, hay rides, corn maze, u pick pumpkins and so much more! Visit their website here!  If you live anywhere near Evansville it is totally worth the drive! Got kids? Even better..they will enjoy it too!

This what we ended up with to take home! Hopefully you get to make it to the pumpkin patch this year!  yeah and this place sells Christmas trees too, you pick the tree they dig it up for you.  I foresee us revisiting this spot in a couple of months :)

Happy Pumpkin Pickin!

Garden of the Gods

My brother is on vacation this week and Alex is on fall break so we've been able to get together quite a bit this week! Our first excursion was to Garden of the Gods in southern Illinois.  Only about an hour and a half drive from Evansville! This was a gorgeous day trip, the trees are starting to really change and the rocks are kinda incredible.  Alex made a comment that suits this little trip perfectly.."I can't believe we live this close to something like this." I couldn't agree more with him.  In my mind I picture places as pretty as this being far away, when in reality there are fun things to do and gorgeous things to see just around the corner.  We kicked our shoes off and had a picnic followed by hours of exploring and taking in some of Mother Nature's gifts :)

I sure did miss Johnny on this little trip, he had to stay home and type a paper for school :( He was definitely there in spirit.  Thought about him all day. I sure do give it to him for having such commitment to school because my butt would've walked right out the door!

 Happy Exploring!

3 Little Pigs

I am always looking for something new and creative to do.  So when my friend Nicole contacted me about making some masks and decorations for her little boys 3rd birthday party I quickly responded with..heck yes I will :) His theme was 3 little pigs.  She sent me pictures of his cake and invitations and I went from there.  I made wolf and piggy masks for all the kids, bunting happy birthday banner and some polka dot garland to hang.  Happy Birthday Jett!

Looks like the kiddos enjoyed them..and maybe the adults too :)

Sweet Suds

I want to express my crush on this dress and the store it came from. First of all look at it...

Second see what I mean?
I got this beauty from the vintage shop Suds in the Bucket.  The owner is one of my close friends Leah, which makes this shop that much better.  She is kinda a vintage goddess :) visit her shop here! While you are at it check out this amazing lookbook she created here.
I'm pretty sure I was meant for an earlier time..my body just fits better in vintage. You should spend a day browsing the vintage shops on etsy yourself, you may just find a new favorite.

Happy Shopping!

LOVEly Month

Most people probably think of February as the month of love because of Valentine's Day and all.  I however think October is the most love inspired of all. My sweet parents got married October 7, 1978 and I always remember them celebrating their love every year during this gorgeous month.  Johnny and I will celebrate our 1 year anniversary on October 16th! You see why I like this month so much?
Sooo...Saturday morning mom and I spent the morning catching up on everything and talking about sewing, clothing and fall weddings.  So we dug mom's wedding dress out and snapped some pictures.  Her dress was straight from Bride magazine and is completely vintage elegance.  Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad, I love you both :)

I also dug out their wedding album and awwed over how cute they are. Plus Dad's hair is AMAZING!! Here is a little blast from the past :)

Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!

PS. I ran across a picture from my Grandma/pa Richs' wedding..so classic..

Fall Fest

This past week was Fall Fest week in Evansville (my new home). It's actually the second largest street fair in the US, only second to Mardi Gras in New Orleans! In other words there were a ton of people and a ton of fried food.  From fried kool aide to fried thin mints...I mean if you can eat it you can fry it apparently :)  See all the different foods here. I tried to choose carefully what I was going to consume because good Lord you could literally make yourself sick at this place!  Of course the first thing I purchased was apple cider in a jug, which for me is a must anytime I am celebrating fall!  As far as food I decided to go with deep fried green beans (gotta keep it healthy you know) and toasted ravioli. Both things were super tasty and super unhealthy so for the day they were amazing!

After we were finished consuming hundreds of calories we finished the night up at The Gerst Haus for a nice German beer. Such a fun filled fall night.
Happy Fall!

DIY Halloween Wreath

October is my favorite month of the year!  The weather is perfect, trees are gorgeous and I got married in it :) To celebrate this spooky month I made a simple Halloween wreath that is easy easy easy! I used the same method inspired by Sookie Says Retro Wreath and my fabric wrapped wreath.  You can hang this baby on any door to spark the spooky feeling of Halloween.
You will need...Foam Wreath, scissors, your choice of fabric, small scrap of felt, and pins

Step 1: Pick your fabric!

Step 2: Gather Supplies and cut your fabric in long 2 in wide pieces.
Step 3: Wrap your fabric around the wreath, pinning as you go to make sure it lays flat. See this if you need a visual :)

Step 4: Make a felt flower to accent your wreath.
Cut 4 circles out of your felt for each flower.....

Layer the circles and alternate the colors....
Lay the felt against your finished wreath and stick a pin in the middle..

And now you are finished! Now hang your pretty little work of art on a door to instantly scream Happy Halloween!

Happy October!
