Blog Fabulous: Katie Did It

Hey guys!  I have a sweet lady to introduce you to!  Keeping the theme of love here at A cup of T I asked Katie from Katie Did It to share something lovely with you..enjoy!
Meet Katie:
Hello lovelies! I'm Katie and I blog over at Katie Did It

In honor of Valentine's Day, the adorable Tia has asked for a love themed post. Lucky for her, this time of year makes me extra sappy. Here are a few of the things I love the most!

My lovely little family.

That bearded fella is my boyfriend Tom, but don't let the beard fool you- he is the biggest softy I know. And the cutie down below is Oscar. He runs the house and makes me say "AW!" on a daily basis.

I love getting dressed in the morning! It took me a long time to finally get to the place I am now with my wardrobe, but I can honestly say I love every item I own! I used to dress to please others, but now I just wear whatever I feel like! Having fun with your wardrobe is huge!

Coffee!
Hot. Cold. Black. Pressed. I love it all.

Thanks to Tia for having me today, and I hope you all have a lovely Valentine's Day.
Stop by and say hello!

Happy Meeting!
Love, T

Blog Fabulous: Threadesque

I thought I would continue the love theme of February by sharing a blog and a vintage shop that I love and I bet you will too once you check it out. Learn more about the beautiful girl behind Threadesque below..
Meet Sam..

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your blog?
Hello! My name is Sam, I'm originally from a state shaped like a mitten but now live in the beautiful state of Montana! I love fashion & mountains.. strange combination, I know! I collect vintage treasures & sell them on RoseVintage! I also have a blog where I love to write about what inspires me! It's called Threadesque, which means a lifestyle inspired by fashion.

You own one of my favorite vintage shops on etsy, what made you start thrifting?
That's so sweet of you to say! Thank you! :) I began collecting vintage when I was in high school, living in Michigan. My collection grew while traveling. Once we moved to Montana in 2009, I discovered amazing vintage/thrift/antique stores. That’s when I decided I had to share!

When you are thrifting are there certain things that you just can't pass up?
I hate to admit this but I pretty much never pass up anything. I'm a buyer to the fullest extent! Usually when I walk into a thrift store I start with house wares.. grabbing vintage Pyrex bowls, cream & sugar sets, and art deco glasses. Then I make my way back to the furniture section; I love buying cheap old pieces & refinishing them! Next stop dresses, coats, shoes, accessories! I can't live without mod silhouettes, cape coats & peter pan collars!

Do you have an all time favorite thrifting find or memory?
My best friend, Megan & I were vintage shopping in Plymouth, MI and I found a Christian Dior coat.. navy blue with gold buttons.. size 6.. fits perfect!

Any tips for thrifters?
Try to vintage shop as often as possible! You never know what you're going to find! Bring a friend, a latte & lots of cash! If something seems over priced, don't hesitate to ask for a discount. Most of the time they will always go lower!
A big thanks to Sam for sharing her love and tips for vintage:)  Here are some pics of goodies she has picked up along the way..Some may even be in her shop!

I wish I owned every item in her shop!  If I had to pick I would say my favorite 2 pieces are this vintage syrup pitcher and this gorgeous kitchen scale!  Show Sam some love and follow her blog and visit her shop
Happy Meeting!
Love, T
In case you missed it we traded cute little DIY around Christmas, see Sam's here and mine here!

Blog Fabulous: Talk 2 the Trees

I'm sure some of you have seen her beautiful work on etsy or even follow her blog already if not you're in for a special treat:)  Rachael is the adorable artist behind Tree Talker & Talk 2 the Trees.
Meet Rachael...

Tell us a little bit about who Rachael is.I'm a compulsive creator. I'm either painting, sewing, knitting, taking pictures, or blogging. I honestly can't sit and not do something. Even if I'm watching a movie! My hands must always be moving. I currently live in Utah, though I'm often drawn to traveling, so I don't plan on staying in Utah for too long. I live in a small basement apartment with my two stinky dogs and a little corner of a studio. We make it work and have lots of fun despite the tight space.
On the rare occasions that I'm not creating I go on adventures with my boyfriend and the two dogs. We explore abandoned houses, water parks, and of course play in the canyons.

What can readers expect when they visit your blog Talk 2 the Trees?A bunch of beautiful randomness. I try to post every day, sometimes twice a day! I post photos of my daily life, my puppies my creations, and my inspirations. I always keep things positive and as beautiful as possible. Even when I'm going through a hard time myself, I never let my blog be a negative space. The Internet is already full of ugly and terrible things, talk2thetrees will always be the opposite.

I am a huge fan of your etsy shops, What is your favorite thing about creating pieces of art for others?I mostly create for myself, and put it in the shop for someone else to buy. My walls are full of paintings, and as one sells, I replace it with another. I would never paint anything that I wouldn't hang up in my own house.
I do love custom orders. Right now I'm only accepting custom pet portraits. When my little Mowgli passed away last March I could barely paint. The only thing I wanted was Mowgli, so I painted a picture of him. The painting sits by my bed and I get to see it everyday. It brings a smile to my heart, and peace to my mind. Knowing that I can give that to someone makes me happy.

Where do find your inspiration for such creative pieces?Trees and nature have always been a huge inspiration to me. Whenever I'm starting to feel blocked, I know I need to get out and explore. I know I need to focus on something else, like photography, or even poetry.  I'm also very inspired by odd things, such as cemeteries, old antique books, and tarot cards. Anything creepy and out of the ordinary.

Do you have any tips for readers who are interested in learning to knit or sew?
When it comes to knitting and sewing, be prepared to mess up. Sometimes it's okay to start over a knitting project. Sometimes it's okay to pick out stitches while sewing..
but if you are ever sewing late at night, and it's not working.. don't argue with the sewing machine. The sewing machine is always right. Sometimes it's best to just ignore it until it can behave. :)
Happy Meeting!
Love, T

She is the talented and creative mind behind one of my favorite blogs: Sookie Says.  I chose her to be the first of many to come fabulous blog features not only because she is one of my close friends but because she is so inspiring! She is a hand sewing genius and vintage queen!

My blog represents pretty much anything i love: fashion, vintage, music....the list goes on! i also share lots of personal things about my life and DIY's. This year i hope to even expand my blog sections and become more consistent with quality posts <3

What made you decide to start blogging?
I constantly stalked other blogs, and i realized that a blog may be the only kind of journal i would actually write on! plus i get so much joy in sharing parts of my life and when i read comments from lovely people it completely makes my day! i also love the ability to have a record of my life to go back and look at down the road and remember:)

Where do you find your inspiration?
ALL over!! i mostly find inspiration in other blogs/people... recently Pinterest...and sometimes i just get inspired from a random thought or picture.  i'd say my fellow crafters/bloggers inspire me the most though.

What are some of the blogs you follow?
My bloglovin list is HUGE! but some that i am constantly checking on is
yours:)
Threadesque (Samantha is darling!)

Tell us about your etsy shops?
My Sookie Says shop is my handmade clothing shop, where i decorate clothing with vintage doilies, lace, fabric and lots of embroidery... i've recently put it on vacation though so that i can concentrate on giving it a facelift and figure out what direction i ultimately want to in with it:)
Suds in the Bucket is a vintage clothing shop, its so much fun to thrift for new treasures! I'm still learning about vintage and everything in my shop is priced very reasonably...while my other shop is on vacay i plan to really show my Suds shop some attention so stay tuned for lots of vintage goodness in the next month!!!!
