New Job, New Journey

Hello my dear friends! As you may already know I started my new job at St.Marys Tuesday.  Well, I think I love it already :) I haven't even set foot in the NICU yet.  This just tells you how wonderful this organization really is.  The little extra things they do to make not only their patients have a better day but their employees too! From therapy pets and musicians to a weekly farmers market on site! I sat through two days of orientation but it was unlike any other orientation I have ever experienced.  They focused on teaching us their mission and their culture.  When you walk through the halls it really doesn't feel like a hospital.  Tomorrow is my first day on the NICU and I can not wait :) I've already found myself smiling just because I'm happy to be part of an organization that is proud of their NICU!  O yeah and when you have a baby they throw the baby a birthday party with a little cake and invites for family..ahh so stinking sweet :) Today I spent watching videos and taking competency quizzes but during my lunch and on my morning break I truly enjoyed myself!
On my morning break I visited the farmers market and bought some fresh local apples :)  I have big plans for them!
I had a small lunch today of hummus and pretzels.  I carried it up to the sun deck and enjoyed the fresh air :)

For work it sure was a pleasant day :)
Happy Day!

Quick and Easy Project

Normally I would have step by step pictures on a DIY but in this instance it's just so easy there is no need for step by step.  All you need is a dress you no longer wear, scissors, and a sewing machine.  Turn a dress into 2 slouchy shirts!

The shirt Tara is wearing is made from the bottom of the dress.  All I did was cut a crescent moon shape off the bottom of the dress and sew about 8 in straight lines under where her arms go to make arm holes and finish the edges off!  My shirt was simply the remains of the top of the dress!  I trimmed the ribbon to desired length and there you have it 2 shirts from 1 old dress!  Only took about 30 min total!
I encourage you to browse through your closet and find a dress you don't wear anymore with cute fabric and transform it into 2 new pieces for your closet! Don't have a dress you want to cut up?  Visit a thrift store and look for one!
Happy Sewing!

Sneak Peak into our First Week

We have officially lived in Evansville for just over a week. Here are some pictures to sum it up!

Our first night in Evansville Alex cooked us a tasty dinner with some of the best grilled veggies I've ever had. Nathan baked some of his famous cupcakes, strawberry cupcake with cream cheese icing and banana cream filling!  The flowers were a housewarming gift, so thoughtful :)

Alex is my newest running partner and we have been getting up every morning at 5:15 to start the day right!

We all decided to splurge and eat out at the yummy German restaurant Gerst Hous downtown.  Delicious food, wonderful environment and the beer..o the beer.  Homemade dessert followed once again with lemon cupcakes, cream cheese icing and fig filling! Nathan really should open his own cupcake shop, no joke!

Another one of our runs:)
Tara and I had a slumber part that included craft hour:) I will post about that next!
Saturday was a great day, started with a run followed by fall shopping and finished up with a great meal at or place!
It's really starting to feel like fall around the apartment with the windows open, mums on the porch, fall soaps and candles!

Yum.  Those little grapes are super simple and quite tasty..All you need is a bag of grapes, an egg and some sugar! Roll the grapes in egg followed by sugar and stick them in the freezer. Alex made these but I can see me making them again! It's really nice that Alex is a fellow blogger because he has been helping me get pictures of everything to share with you! Visit his blog: Alex's Blog.  Johnny doesn't care too much for pictures so I've been taking full advantage of the fact that Alex does :)
Breakfast of champs!
Between running and eating we actually did get a lot done around the apartment!  We've had quite a few visitors this week and it's been so nice to have a place that we enjoy having people over.  I start my first day at my new job tomorrow so I've really been soaking all of this great stuff in!  O yeah and Johnny has ran with me the past two days! This week has been pretty great.  Lots of change for the better.
Happy Labor Day!

Craft Room

I just smiled so big when I typed the title of this post it's not even funny.  I'm sitting on the balcony and if anyone can see me they probably think I'm crazy because I keep going through emotions.  From really serious to actually laughing out loud because before I started posting this morning I was getting caught up reading some of my favorite blogs.  Woo sorry ADHD kicking in...So here it is my lovely craft room where I will be spending a lot of time! The best part is that I can just shut the door and the mess is gone, instead of strung across half the apartment.  I still need to hang pictures and shelving but this is good enough for me right now!

This is Johnny's study area..We can work together:)

Of course I just couldn't wait to create something in my new room so I realized I had never made my friend Leah the skirt I had promised her in a trade we had discussed! When I was unpacking found the shirt she had given me for her half of the trade!  I thought yikes! Soo I made her a little dress instead...Of course I had to try it on, check it out below.  I can't wait for you to get it Leah because I know you'll be a doll in it! Kinda nice having such talented friends to trade with :) check out Leah's shop here Sookie Says

So we traded this for that..I mean win win in my opinion!

I hope you enjoyed the rest of the tour!
Happy Crafting!
